Projects specifically related to Robotics or closely-related ideas. Machines that think, move or act more or less under their own direction, though semi-autonomous is okay too. We will of course break this rule whenever we want ;-)
The M&M’s each got a really nifty Hexapod Robot for Christmas. This particular build follows Mason’s experience in building. There are also some videos of the beastie moving around in the build log. Check it out!
We enrolled the M&M’s into the Lego EV3 STEM Camp over the summer and they had a blast building their Lego robots and programming them to “fight” their opponents’ robots to the death– well, out of the center circle, but you know, same thing, right? 😉
My wife gave me a six-wheel Wild Thumper Robot / RC chassis a couple of years ago for my birthday. I wanted it to use as a platform for a robot project. Sharp-eyed readers may recognize it as the underlying platform for my “ARDI” robot. After I got the batteries and cpu board and whatnot figured out, I decided that I wanted to add shaft encoders to the two center wheel motors and that’s where my troubles began…
We signed the kids up for STEM Camp VEX IQ Robotics this year. Last year they did the EV3 Lego Robotics. They had a terrific time building their robot and getting it programmed, and then went on to win the competition and were awarded the First Place certificate.
